Technology to Make Your Visit More Pleasant

We realize that going to the dentist is not most people’s favorite thing to do. We also know that your life can be hectic, so we want your time here to be as pleasant as possible. We use the latest in various dental technologies to make your experience in the dental chair more comfortable and much quicker!

Read below to learn more about the technology we use to make your time in the chair as relaxing as possible.

One way we help you maintain a healthy smile is by making the administrative process as straightforward and stress-free as possible. Our digital record-keeping system streamlines your appointments because all your information is readily accessible in one location.

Since digital records eliminate a lot of paperwork, they are better for the environment. And digital records allow us to efficiently share your file with specialists or your insurance company when needed.

Our practice utilizes intraoral cameras to help our patients better understand the condition of their teeth and mouths. Using a small “wand” with the camera on the end, we take digital photographs of your teeth that show up on a TV monitor by your treatment chair. These enlarged images allow both you and the doctor to view and discuss problem areas, such as cracks or cavities in your teeth that may be causing pain.

Dental lasers are safe and effective for use in procedures like gum contouring or crown lengthening. We also perform periodontal surgery by using laser technology. The result is no cutting, no stitches, minimal post-procedure bleeding, and no downtime.

Lasers can also treat the herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores. The heat from the laser destroys the virus, so you may not have to worry about a recurrence in the same area.

It’s very common to experience anxiety about root canal treatment. But at American Dental, we do everything possible to ensure that your procedure is comfortable and stress-free – and rotary endodontics are a part of that.

Rotary endodontics allow our doctor to perform efficient root canal treatment by making the process more efficient and minimizing the time you spend in the dental chair. We are also able to achieve better outcomes for our patients because rotary endodontic instruments clean the root canals more thoroughly than traditional endodontic tools. This technology allows for one-visit root canals in most situations!

When planning your treatment, we use digital panoramic x-rays that produce a single highly detailed, two-dimensional image of your mouth including teeth, upper and lower jaws, surrounding structures, and tissue. These images are valuable because digital panoramic x-rays minimize your radiation exposure by as much as 80%.

Taking a panoramic x-ray is easy because we don’t have to place any film or sensors in your mouth. This imaging technology is extraoral (outside the mouth). Because of this, panoramic x-rays are great for gaggers--- young children or adults who can’t tolerate x-rays taken inside the mouth.

Many people struggle with dental anxiety that prevents them from seeking necessary dental treatment. At American Dental, we want to make it as easy and stress-free as possible to keep up with your appointments, so we are pleased to offer the relaxing benefits of nitrous oxide conscious sedation.

TWe administer nitrous oxide through a small nasal mask. As you sit back and breathe normally, you will almost immediately feel a calming effect. Noises and activity around you fade into the background, and a pleasant sensation of well-being takes over.

You will stay calm and relaxed as long as we administer the gas, and as soon as we turn it off, the sensations fade. By the time you leave our office, you will feel no side effects and will be able to resume your normal daily activities.

The old-fashioned, uncomfortable, traditional dental x-ray is a thing of the past. Digital radiography has not only sped up the x-ray process, these modern x-ray machines give off much less radiation, making them safer for all patients.

In addition, both dentist and patient can view digital x-rays immediately. The images created by these x-rays can also be enhanced, showing a level of detail that is just not possible with traditional x-rays. The results can easily be emailed to specialists or your insurance company, offering a much higher level of convenience.

One thing universally disliked about going to the dentist is the sound of the drill. You know what I’m talking about- that high-pitched, whiney sound when you’re having a filling. It’s like nails on chalkboard! At American Dental, we have found a way to rid our office of that sound!

Dr Daniel uses a newer type of “drill”, known as an electric handpiece. It differs from the older air-driven handpieces in that it is quieter and runs more smoothly. This means that there will be much less vibration and noise during a procedure. It is also faster at removing decay and preparing your teeth for crowns, which cuts down on the time it takes to do your treatment.

Are you the bridesmaid at your best friend’s wedding next weekend, and need pearl white smiles for the photos right away? We have a solution! Our in-office BOOST Whitening will guarantee you get instant results in just 1 HOUR! Gels are placed on the teeth and activated to whiten your teeth in minutes and you are ready for your photo shoot.

One of our priorities is to ensure our patients understand why certain treatments are recommended. TVs are used to show your dental X-rays and color photos so you will be fully informed about your oral health. This is just one of the ways we use the latest technology to provide the highest level of care for our patients.
